In a news article titled “Crowds flock to Good Friday Service On the Hill” we read about how local church leaders, led by Pastor Bill Catlow from the Congregational Church, has invited all denominations to join them for a celebration of the true meaning of Easter. What is so alarming about this ecumenical Easter service was that Seventh-day Adventists were among the churches that attended.
This is saddening to know because the Seventh-day Adventist Church was established by God to be a light of shining truth in this world of darkness and deception. The Seventh-day Adventist Church developed its doctrinal positions as a result of a earnest search for the truth found in the word of God.
The Seventh-day Adventist movement was raised by God in the 1840s to truly bring the protestant churches back to the pure teachings of the Bible (Sola Scriptura) the Bible alone. Which the true, pure teachings from Jesus and the apostles include the truth about the Sabbath, the Seventh-day Saturday, the true day of church going and worship; not Sunday, a pagan Roman Catholic institution.
What is devastating is that in this news article Pastor Bill Catlow stated that the true meaning of Easter was going to be celebrated and for the Seventh-day Adventist Church to attend that service is horrifying because Seventh-day Adventists understand the true pagan meaning of Easter and to participate in such service is out-right apostasy.
The true meaning of Easter
Easter which derives from Eostre, Eastur, Ostara, Ostar, terms used by ancient Scandinavians) to refer to the season of the rising sun.
According to Bede (ca. A. D. 673-735), the “Father of English History,” the word “Easter” is derived from Eastre, an Anglo-Saxon spring goddess to whom sacrifices were offered at the vernal equinox (March 21). Easter,” The Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible (Grand Rapids, 1978), vol. 2, p. 180.
Eostra/Ostara is the Anglo-Saxon version of Ishtar, the Sumerian goddess of love and war who in Canaan evolved into a moon goddess and wife of Baal. According to Sumerian lore, Ishtar was the wife of the Summerian god, Tammuz. Both are spoken of in the Bible–Tammuz in Ezekiel 8:14 and Ishtar, called Ashtoreth and Queen of Heaven, in Judges 2:13, Judges 10:6, Jeremiah 44:17
In the time of Emperor Claudius, he made Easter an official holiday during his reign. This spring festival was accompanied by licentious practices.
For Seventh-day Adventists to join a ecumenical Easter service and remain silent like nothing is wrong and not speak out and share the true pagan meaning of Easter is to totally reject the purpose and mission of the remnant Church. The mission of the end-time church of God is to give the light of truth for this time and to be faithful to the commandment of God found in Holy Scriptures.
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light” (2 Corinthians 4:6).
“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4).
Now now is the time to know what is truth and to stand on the word of God alone and not on tradition and pagan teachings and practices mixed with the things of God.
